Closed-Loop bag recycling

Closed-Loop is the key for Environment
At Niverplast we improve business together. With a team of passionate people, we strive for the highest possible quality to create unique, tailor-made packaging solutions for our customers. Quality naturally includes the aspect of Closed-Loop recycling. Did you know that Closed-loop recycling has become a very important concept in the (online) supermarket world? A number of Niverplast’s partners have also embraced the Closed-Loop recycling principle and integrated it into their own supply chains.
But what exactly is Closed-Loop recycling? Let's start at the delivery process of e-grocery products. When a delivery driver comes to deliver the weekly groceries, he takes the old plastic T-shirt bags back to the E-fulfilment center. By taking the old plastic T-shirt bags back to the fulfilment center, there is less waste as the vans are carrying back used bags and do not return 'empty'. Once the T-shirt bags are back at the E- fulfilment center, they are collected in bulk and go back to Niverplast where they are recycled into new T-shirt bags. This process is done over and over and the same resources are being used to create new T-shirt bags.
The biggest advantage of plastic T-shirt bags is that they can be recycled over ten times without losing any strength, depending on the method used. Of every plastic T-shirt bag that is returned to Niverplast, between 60%-80% is recycled into a new T-shirt bags. The other 20-40% will get a new life as a different plastic product so there is no waste in the process.
Your customers may still ask why plastic T-shirt bags are used instead of packing their groceries directly into the crate. Partners indicate that this way several orders can be combined in one crate. This ensures that all the space in the crates is utilized efficiently.
In addition, it is more hygienic to separate the groceries and by using bags the quality of the products can be guaranteed. Another consideration is the high cost of water and cleaning products when the crates have to be cleaned after every use.
