4 steps

How it works

Step 1

Box infeed

At the infeed of the EasyFold the box (or your product carrier) is centered to ensure its position. Optionally the weight of the box is checked in this step. Rejected boxes are ejected onto an error conveyor.

Step 2

Bag pick-up

Two vacuum cups pick up the bag on the short sides of the box.

Step 3

Bag spreading

Two spreading fingers are placed in the bag and the bag is spread.

Step 4

Bag folding

The two folding bars ensure that the bag is folded inwards over the long side. The short sides of the bag will be folded while the box flaps are folded inwards for box closing.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about the EasyFold.

What does the EasyFold do?

The EasyFold automatically folds plastic liners inside boxes or crates. It replaces a repetitive manual packaging step with a controlled, consistent folding process. The machine can be used as a stand-alone solution or integrated into a complete packaging line.

For which applications is the EasyFold suitable?

The EasyFold is suitable for bag-in-box applications where a plastic liner needs to be folded neatly, quickly and consistently. It can be used for a wide range of products, including bakery ingredients, frozen foods, vegetables, fruit, meat, seafood, pet food, powders and industrial products.

How does the EasyFold fold the bag?

The EasyFold picks up the bag from the box using suction cups, stretches the bag, spreads it with folding fingers and then folds the liner inward. The long sides of the bag are folded by folding bars, while the short sides are folded as the box flaps are prepared for closing. This creates a controlled and repeatable folding result.

When should I choose bag folding instead of sealing or clipping?

The best closing method depends on the product, the required level of protection and the desired packaging process. Bag folding is a fast and cost-efficient way to close a liner without using additional consumables such as clips.

Folding is often a good choice when the surrounding box or crate already provides sufficient product protection. If a physical closure is required, sealing or clipping may be more suitable. Heat sealing creates a fully closed bag, while clipping provides a secure closure that can be opened and reclosed more easily.

Because Niverplast offers folding, sealing and clipping solutions, the most suitable closing method can be selected for each application.

When should I choose the EasyFold instead of the VarioFold?

The EasyFold is a strong choice when your production runs one or a limited number of box or crate sizes and high capacity is important. It is designed for efficient, high-speed bag folding with a compact machine layout.

The VarioFold is usually the better choice when your production requires more flexibility, frequent format changes, very large box sizes or highly accurate folding for more complex applications. In short: choose the EasyFold when speed, simplicity and compact integration are most important; choose the VarioFold when flexibility, format range and folding accuracy are the deciding factors.

How many boxes or crates can the EasyFold process?

Depending on the configuration, the EasyFold can process up to 25 boxes or crates per minute. The actual capacity depends on factors such as box size, bag specifications, product characteristics and the overall packaging line configuration.

Which box and crate sizes can the EasyFold process?

The EasyFold can be configured for different box and crate dimensions. Standard dimensions include:

DimensionMinimumMaximum
Length11.8" / 300 mm24.4" / 620 mm
Width7.9" / 200 mm17.7" / 450 mm
Box height2.4" / 60 mm13.8" / 350 mm
Bag height7.9" / 200 mm19.7" / 500 mm

If your packaging dimensions fall outside the standard range, Niverplast can evaluate the application and determine whether a tailored configuration is possible.

Which bag materials can the EasyFold process?

The EasyFold can process plastic liners from very thin materials to thicker bag materials. The quotation documentation refers to bags ranging from approximately 10 microns to more than 200 microns, depending on the customer application. The final suitability depends on the bag material, dimensions, product and required folding result.

Can the EasyFold store recipes for different packaging formats?

Yes. Recipes can be added, adjusted and stored for different box sizes. This helps operators switch between packaging formats more efficiently and reduces the risk of incorrect machine settings during production.

How much space does the EasyFold require?

The EasyFold is designed with a compact footprint, making it suitable for production environments where floor space is limited. This helps manufacturers automate bag folding without making unnecessary changes to the production layout.

Can the EasyFold be integrated into an existing packaging line?

Yes. The EasyFold can operate as a stand-alone machine or be integrated into a new or existing packaging line. Depending on the application, it can be combined with equipment such as conveyors, checkweighers, metal detectors, case closers and palletizing systems.

How does the EasyFold support continuous production?

The EasyFold is designed for automated production environments where a stable packaging flow is important. Documentation refers to continuous production through automatic rejection of incorrect boxes. This means that incorrect boxes can be removed from the line without necessarily interrupting the complete packaging process.

What should operators know about operating the EasyFold?

The EasyFold is operated via a large 15-inch HMI screen. Operators can view the operation mode, machine adjustments and failure analysis with pictures. This helps operators understand machine status, adjust settings and respond to faults more easily.

What remote support and performance monitoring options are available?

The EasyFold is equipped with an IXON router for secure remote support. This allows Niverplast engineers to connect to the machine remotely and support troubleshooting when needed.

The machine can also be connected to DAMORE, Niverplast’s Data Monitoring & Remote Engineering service. This provides insight into machine data such as production output, downtime, availability and OEE. Historical data can also be available, even when the machine is offline.
